Sada Cruzeiro and Italian Trentino played one of the most anticipated matches of the Club World Championship on Thursday night, 12/12, bringing together the greatest holders of the world’s best club title: the Brazilians with four titles and the Europeans with five. The Celeste team secured an incredible comeback win, 3-2, and kept their hopes of qualifying for the semifinals alive. In Arena Sabiazinho, in Uberlândia-MG, the Cruzeiro team won with set scores of 19/25, 25/21, 18/25, 25/16, and 15/12.

With this result, Sada Cruzeiro finishes the group stage with two wins (including 3-1 over Argentina’s Ciudad Volley) and one loss by the same score to Iran’s Shahdab Yazd in Group B, totaling five points. To advance in the tournament, the team needs Ciudad to win at least two sets against Shahdab in their match on Friday at 17:00.

Trentino, with two 3-0 victories over Argentina and Iran, leads Group B with six points and has already secured a spot in the final phase.

Against the Italians, Sada Cruzeiro played a great match. Wallace was the game’s top scorer, with an impressive 29 points. For Trentino, Magalini and Rychlicki scored 19 and 18 points, respectively. Cruzeiro’s Vaccari, who played throughout the match, scored 15 points.

Team captain and opposite hitter Wallace commented on the important win and the team’s dedication. “The whole team deserves congratulations, they played an amazing match, stayed calm in tough moments, and we managed to secure the victory. What drives me is the desire to keep chasing more, to win titles, medals, and that’s what motivates me. A lot of that is thanks to the whole team, all my teammates, the coaching staff, and Filipe. We knew it would be a tough game. Unfortunately, this result doesn’t guarantee our qualification yet, we’re still dependent on tomorrow’s game. But the team left everything on the court, and I’m really happy,” said Wallace.

The Club World Championship began last Tuesday and will be held in Uberlândia until the weekend, with semifinals on Saturday and the final on Sunday. In Group A, the current leader is Iran’s Foolad Sirjan, with two victories. The group also includes the host Praia Clube, who were eliminated on Thursday, Egypt’s Al Ahly, and Italy’s Lube Civitanova
