Sada Cruzeiro played their last match before the Club World Championship and secured another victory in the 2024/25 Superliga on Wednesday night, December 4th. Against Neurologia Ativa, at the Ginásio do Riacho, the team had little difficulty, winning 3-0 with set scores of 25/15, 25/16, and 25/18. With this positive result, Sada Cruzeiro remains at the top of the Brazilian league, with 23 points from eight wins in nine matches.
With eyes on the Club World Championship, Filipe Ferraz used the match against the team from Goiás to give the squad some rotation. Young middle blocker Juan Velasco came in during the match and was the top scorer with 10 points. Rodriguinho scored nine points, Douglas Souza and Vaccari each had eight, and opposite Wallace scored seven.
Rodriguinho was chosen as the standout player on court and received the VivaVôlei trophy. For the attacker, the focus is now 100% on the World Championship. “The Superliga is a very long competition, and we’re heading to another one, very important and with a much quicker duration. It’s a tournament where we can’t fluctuate too much, we can’t have a big variation in our rhythm. I think that’s what our team is working towards. We’ve managed to play well, impose our rhythm, and have good fundamentals with good numbers, but at some point, we do have fluctuations. It’s about correcting that and heading into the World Championship with full focus. Winning is always good; we’re going with the feeling of having done our job, and now we’ll put all our energy into the World Championship, and then come back strong to the Superliga,” he said.
